Erik Kowalski Transformers
Erik Kowalski appears in the up coming Transformers movie. Kowalski plays opposite Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Patrick Dempsey and Frances Dormand in “Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon.”
The 31-year-old actor has tried his hand at everything from acting, writing and producing. He has always had a passion for entertainment.
While attending the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Erik was pre-med. After two years of slogging through math and science courses, he transferred to Milwaukee Area Technical College instead where he pursued and graduated with a degree in Film production. While in school he applied for roughly 80 internships at production companies in Los Angles. He got only two responses. One was from Scott Free Productions and the other was from Furthur Films. Not bad considering that both production companies are helmed by Hollywood A-Listers.
Once Erik moved out L.A. he immediately started paying his dues working as an intern writing coverage on scripts at Furthur Films. During this time he also wrote several scripts of his own which were shopped around. To support himself he did various crew positions from production assistant and grip to assistant direction on a variety of Independent projects.
In 2005 acting coach Theresa Pink took Erik under her guidance. He also studied with Christopher Atkins and Karen Ironside. Ironside gave him his start in “The Fallen Ones” and “29 Minutes and Counting”. It took another three years before Erik came back to the acting world doing featured spots in “Greek” and “Glee”.
Kowalski’s first big break came in the summer of 2009 when he was cast as Deke in “The Conquered”, an Indie Horror film about five college students who stumble on to an ancient burial ground. That was followed by a brief role in “I believe in America” as well as “Young Again” as Alex Vaughn, all of which hit the festival circuit. Then he played a Nazi soldier, Carl, in the short “Only Way Out.
Having worked with director Michael Bay, Kowalski feels like he’s really matured as an actor. Look for Erik Kowalski to keep delivering in unexpected places.
